Privacy Notice
This site (brianwinckel.com) is the personal portfolio of Brian Winckel. It does not sell products, collect form submissions, or run advertising. It does use a small amount of analytics so I can understand which work resonates.
What's collected
- Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID
G-XZSQK478SR) — collects anonymized usage data including page views, approximate location (country/region, derived from IP), device type, browser, referrer, and session duration. IP addresses are anonymized by Google before storage. - Vercel (the hosting platform) — server logs containing IP address, user agent, and request URL. Used for security and uptime; not combined with analytics data.
What's not collected
- No contact-form submissions (the only contact path is
mailto:— that goes to your email client, not this site). - No marketing pixels (Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, etc.).
- No third-party advertising trackers.
- No session recordings or heatmaps.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*)
used to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. They expire after up to 24
months. You can block them by enabling your browser's "Do Not Track" / "Block
third-party cookies" setting, by using a content blocker, or by visiting
Google's opt-out browser add-on.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
If you'd like a copy of any data tied to your visit, or you'd like it deleted, email brian.winckel@gmail.com with the approximate date and time of your visit. I'll work with Google's data tools to honor the request.
Changes to this notice
Material changes to data collection will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. The current version will always be the one published at brianwinckel.com/privacy.
